This film takes time setting on early 20th century, when Muslim world marked the condition that some people refer to as an Islamic purification movement.

Movement ‘purification’ was popularized by several figures such as Muhammad Abduh, Jamaluddin Al-Afghani, Rashid Rida, etc. Basic motivation of this movement is back on the core teachings of Islam and release the superstitious teachings.

In Indonesia itself appeared a figure who carrier these thoughts, he is Muhammad Darwis who later became known by name of Ahmad Dahlan, a Muslim from Kauman Yogyakarta.
